Flock Food Project Spring Donation Drive
We’re holding a Spring Donation Drive for the Flock Food Project on Sunday, April 11 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at Breese Stevens Field. Below you’ll find a list of items that will help us start growing and feeding individuals and families in need!
What Should I Donate?
We will accept most items, but these are the items in highest demand. As these will be potentially gifted to a family we reserve the right to refuse any items not in working condition.
Infrastructure: Tomato cages, bamboo poles, twine or netting, garden cloche, cold frames
Large gardening tools: spades, hoses, rakes, shovels
Small gardening tools: Trowel, pruner and shears, three-prong cultivator
Containers: grow bags (5, 7, or 10 gallons)
General gardening: Watering cans w/ shower head, natural organic fertilizers (new), bags of unopened compost or gardening soil
Raised beds: Cedar boards (ground grade, non-pressure treated, non-chemical treated)
Clothing and gear: cotton t-shirts, garden tote, gardening gloves
Delivery: fridge/mini-fridge, reusable grocery totes, paper bags, rubber bands, ice packs, insulated produce boxes (e.g. Imperfect Produce), harvest baskets
How Far Will My Monetary Donations Go?
Any donation amount will go a long way to combat food insecurity in our community. Here’s a representation of how your donations can help kickstart our gardens:
$1,000: supports an entire growing season and at our Troy Gardens plot
$500: supports one Member Garden for an entire growing season
$250: makes it possible to deliver fresh produce to families for a season
$100: builds strong garden foundations with items such as compost, soil, and fertilizer
$50: supplies new gardeners with a garden success kit
$25: gives the gardens a boost with access to strong seedlings
$10: plants the seed of access to fresh food by allowing us to buy seeds
