In 1999 NYC police violently murdered an innocent man by the name of Amadu Diallo. Sparks flew across the nation igniting many social movements. One of those movements came in the form an EP put together by Artists Talib Kweli and Mos Def (Yasin Bey) to speak out against police violence. That EP was entitled "Hip-Hop For Respect." We take the events from over 20 years ago and apply them to the 21st century as we (POC) STILL face the likes of police violence on a regular basis, while also making it notable that our black and brown players here at Forward Madison FC are not immune to such heinous acts committed by police across the nation.
